Dubai-based journalist Abdul Majid Awan has launched Gulf Wire, a Linkedin-based newsletter summarising the biggest stories of the day from the Arab World.
“I've spent years living a life of a journalist for hire,” he said. “And every day, I found myself doing the same thing - scanning 20+ tabs, three apps, and a dozen sources just to get a clear picture of what actually mattered. So I built the thing I always wanted.”
Awan, who is a Senior Writer & Presenter for the Smashi Business & Smashi Sports programmes at Augustus Media, said the daily newsletter aims to ‘cut through the noise’.
“Each edition opens with a 150-word take from me - a journalist's read on the day - followed by the stories that actually move the region," he said. “No fluff. No algorithm. Just context, clarity, and a journalist who's been in the room.”
