Egyptian journalist Samir Omar has been appointed Director of News Channels at United Media Services.
Formerly Cairo Bureau Chief at Sky News Arabia, he now oversees channels including Al Qahera News, Extra News, Extra Live, and Q News at the Egyptian media conglomerate.
He began his media career in the early 90’s working as a producer of programmes and news bulletin for Egyptian television, and went on to work for Video Cairo Sat, Dubai TV and Al Jazeera, before joining Sky News Arabia in 2011.
United Media Services was established in May 2016 to to develop the media sector in Egypt and owns more than 40 companies in various media fields, including visual, audio, print, electronic media and dramatic production, as well as direct and indirect advertising services.
