Kuwait newspaper & TV channel closed by the government

Al Sabah newspaper and its affiliated TV station have been closed in Kuwait after their licences were revoked by the government.

The daily Arabic newspaper launched in March 2008, while free-to-air channel Al Sabah TV launched in 2009.

The move reportedly follows an Emiri decree stripping Dr. Barakat Hudaiban Al Rashidi, the editor-in-chief of Al Sabah and owner of the television channel, of his Kuwaiti nationality.
