New Middle East Editor for The Wall Street Journal

Andrew Dowell has joined the Dubai bureau of The Wall Street Journal as Middle East Editor.

He was previously Hong Kong-based Asia Editor for over seven years, and has also worked for the US-based newspaper as Deputy Finance Editor and New York Corporate Bureau Chief.

Editor in Chief, Emma Tucker, said: “In his new role, Drew will focus on our coverage of the war in Israel, the increasing tensions in the region, and the U.S. relationship with Saudi Arabia.”

Former Middle East Bureau Chief, Mike Amon, has been promoted to Deputy World Coverage Chief based in New York, while Deborah Ball has been being appointed Asia Editor.
